Forex automation safety checklist for India

Use official RBI and SEBI sources, verify authorisation and compatibility, protect credentials, and test forex automation cautiously before considering live exposure.

Start with the current RBI position

The Reserve Bank of India states in its published foreign-exchange guidance that resident persons should undertake forex transactions only with authorised persons and for permitted purposes. Rules can change and individual facts matter, so verify the current official text before acting.

Do not assume that access to a website, app, payment method, community, or software file makes a transaction permitted.

Check authorised platforms and the Alert List

Review the RBI list of authorised Electronic Trading Platforms and the current Alert List. The Alert List identifies entities or platforms that are not authorised to deal in forex under the Foreign Exchange Management Act or operate an electronic trading platform for forex transactions.

Absence from an alert list is not, by itself, proof of authorisation. Confirm the authorised person, platform, purpose, and transaction independently.

Keep RBI and SEBI frameworks separate

RBI foreign-exchange rules and SEBI securities-market rules address different regulatory areas. SEBI’s February 4, 2025 framework for safer retail participation in algorithmic trading concerns securities-market participation and should not be presented as blanket approval of a forex EA, platform, or transaction.

Check the original SEBI circular and subsequent implementation-timeline notices only for the securities-market context they cover.

Verify the provider and official channel

Start from links published on the provider’s official website. Confirm the destination, software version, access terms, and identity of the account communicating with you.

  • Reject guaranteed-return or fixed-income claims.
  • Do not send broker passwords, one-time codes, card data, or remote-access credentials.
  • Do not install files received only through an unsolicited direct message.
  • Pause when licensing, renewal, refund, or compatibility terms are unclear.

Confirm compatibility without guessing

Ask for the current platform, broker, account, symbol, regional, and continuous-operation requirements. Do not infer MT4, MT5, broker, VPS, or account support when it has not been confirmed.

Keep a copy of the instructions and version used for the test so later changes can be identified.

Test operation before live exposure

Use a demo environment to observe installation, rule behaviour, order handling, protective controls, logs, updates, and interruption states. Demo testing does not prove future profitability or live execution quality.

  • Record all settings and risk limits.
  • Test how the system is paused and removed.
  • Review behaviour after a restart or connection interruption.
  • Set a written stop condition before testing begins.

Use a personal safety checklist

Before proceeding, be able to explain the legal basis you relied on, the authorised parties involved, the software rules, the maximum exposure, the evidence reviewed, and the method for stopping the system.

This checklist is general educational information, not legal or personalized financial advice. Obtain qualified advice for your circumstances.
